A classic Tibet trekking tour from Old Tingri to Everest Base Camp, this 12-day trek trip allows you to explore the wildlife upon the alpine mountains and valleys of Tibet, and to challenge yourself both physically and spiritually. After two days’ sightseeing in holy city of Lhasa, with a visit to the famous Potata Palace, sacred Jokhang Temple and other important monasteries, the tour will take you from Lhasa to Shigatse to Old Tingri, where the adventure trekking starts. You will pass some grassy valleys, impressive glaciers, gaze upon the lofty mountains and finally arrive at the Everest Base Camp, to appreciate the stunning view of Mount Everest. The whole journey will be a great move and meaningful trip, adding the unforgettable achievement in your life.

Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa
Upon your arrival in Lhasa, our tour guide will meet you at the Lhasa Gonggar Airport (or Lhasa Railway Station) and escort you to your hotel in Lhasa. After checking into your hotel, the rest of the day is free for you to have a good rest and acclimatize yourself to the high altitude at Tibet. Get prepared for your tour in Lhasa.
Stay overnight in Lhasa.
Day 2: Lhasa Sightseeing: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street

In the morning, you will visit the famous Potala Palace and explore the grandest chapels. You will experience its audience halls, the jeweled and Golden burial chortens (stupa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala etc.
In the afternoon, you will continue your visit to the holiest temple in Tibet, the Jokhang Temple, built during Songtsen Ganpo's reign by princess Wencheng of Tang dynasty, 647 A.D, and its famous Barkhor Street, where you can buy or appreciate traditional Tibetan artifacts, religious implements, antiques, books, Tibetan music instrument, Thangkas, and tradition Tibetan clothes etc. You will have a chance to get close to appreciate how the artists draw Thangkas at the Thangka workroom at Barkhor.

Day 3: Lhasa Sightseeing: Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery

Scriptures Debating in Sera Monastery
Today, you will visit two important monasteries in Lhasa, the Drepung and the Sera. Drepung Monastery is situated at the foothill of a mountain and was founded by Jamyang Choeje in 1416. It was once home of 10000 monks and Ganden podrang in Drepung is famous it was the government centre during fifth dalai lama and later moved to the famous potala palace during fifth dalai lama.
After having lunch, continue to visit the Sera Monastery, which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa's disciple Jamchen Choeje. The most attractive is that Monks debiting is held there in the courtyard at around 3-5 in the afternoon section most of the time.

Day 4: Lhasa to Shigatse

Tashilhunpo Monastery
Today, you will head to view the Yamdrok Lake, one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet. It is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and fed by numerous small Himalayan streams. Just enjoy the breathtaking blue Yamdrok Lake. Then, you will head to Gyantse and visit the Pelkor Monastery where displays sculptures, murals and carvings.
After that, you will drive about one hour to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. Upon arrival, you will visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, the oldest and largest Gelugpa Monastery in Tibet.

Day 5: Shigatse to Old Tingri
After getting your Alien's Travel Permit, we will firstly drive to Lhatse and take lunch there. After lunch, we will keep driving to Shegar, where you may see the Mt.Everest in the distance if the weather is clear. After reach Old Tingri, your guide will do preparations for the trek.

Day 6: Old Tingri to Lungchang Valley (4510m, 5 hours,12km, 150m Ascend)

We will begin the trek from old Tingri along the village trail towards southeastern valley. It seems you are getting closer and closer to Cho Oyu peak. After passing through Ra-chu Valley and Lungchang village, you will see another beautiful valley with extensive meadows, flocks of sheep and goats. Look for a fine place to camp. Lying down on grass at the stream side, relax in the nice warm sunshine at rest of the day.

Day 7: Lungcgang to Nam-La (5050m, 7/8 hrs, 21km, 200m Ascend)
Today, the most challenging trek really starts. Hiking up the valley by the yaks trail in the rubbles, it’s getting very dry, and the sun is very strong that can it burn you easily. So you must put on a thick sun block, but you will see something different scenery at this section. Then, we will climb towards the top of Nam-La pass at 5,050m. Soon after the pass, you will find your campsite.

Day 8: Nam-la to Zommug (4790m, 8 hours, 22km, 360m Descend)

Experience the life of herders families
Today, you will start your trekking descending the valley, passing through herders’ camps with herders families. You are going to visit their camp site to experience the life in harsh climate. Your camp will be pitched in the small village of Zommug. Trekkers are about to view the amazing sunset in this barren village.

Day 9: Zommuk to Rongbuk and EBC (5200m, 15km, 6hours, 290m Ascend)

After hiking from Zommuk and ascending the valley via yaks trail beside main road for 8km, you will finally reach to Rongbuk, the world's highest monastery. After having lunch in Rongbuk guesthouse, you can continue your last 7km hiking to the final destination at EBC. It takes about 2 and half hours for the hike. From there you can hike back 3 km, 1 hour to tourists camp. The whole trekking will be completed today.
Overnight by camping or tourists base camp.
(Notes: If you want to camp, Rongbuk is the only place to camp for tourists which is very close to monastery, your driver will pick you up from the tourists’ camp to Rongbuk.)
Day 10: Everest Base Camp back to Shigatse
Getting up in the early morning, you will view the sunrise over the Mt. Everest on a clear day. Then we will drive back to Shigatse, following the Friendship Highway.
Overnight in Shigatse.
Day 11: Shigatse to Lhasa

After breakfast, we will drive about 280km back to Lhasa along the Friendship Highway. The whole journey may take about 6 hours and you can enjoy the beauriful landscape along the Yarlung Tsangpo River, which is the longest river in Tibet.
Stay overnight in Lhasa.
Day 12: Lhasa Departure
Our guide will accompany you to the airport or railway station to see you off. Service end.

Itinerary Alteration
Once we receive your tour deposit, which is followed by signing the contract, your reservation is secured with legitimacy. Our staff will reserve the accommodation, vehicle, site tickets, meals and more, and pay the deposit for our suppliers. So if you want to alter to another itinerary, you need to cover the deposit we've paid, while no service charge is needed if you make some changes on the itinerary you booked.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
If you cancel the tour beacuse of your personal issues, you will be liable to pay cancellation charges that are bounded by 3rdpoletour.com cancellation policy as follows:
1.) If you cancel the tour more than 30 days before the trip starts, you will forfeit 10% of the total land cost per person;
2.) If you cancel the tour 15-30 days prior to your trip start date, 20% of your total land tour cost will be forfeited as a cancellation fee.
3.) If you cancel the tour 7-15 days before the trip starts, you will forfeit 30% of land cost.
4.) If you cancel the tour 7 days prior to your tour start date, you will forfeit 50% of land cost.
5.) If you fail to show up or cancel at your scheduled arrival time without prior notice or later than that, you will forfeit 100% of the land cost.
If the tour has to be cancelled because of the natural disaster or the government restrictions that is beyond both parties control, we will charge only USD50 per person, this is just the service fee and larbor fee during the preparation. This is a rare occurrence!
The cancellation fee charged by 3rdpoletour.com will be kept under your name (person who contacted us) for a usable period of 2 years. Within the applicable period you can use it for next time or you can kindly pass your authority to any of your family, friends or colleagues to use by booking a tour with 3rdpoletour.com. A certifying email from you is necessary to pass the cancellation fee to others, but it is only applicable for private group.
