The Tibet Travel Permit only lets you entry to Lhasa, to go to places outside of Lhasa like Shigatse or Everest Base Camp you need Aliens' Travel Permit. This permit can be obtained in Lhasa. It takes about an hour to obtain this, the documents you need are your passport and Tibet Travel Permit. Your guide can obtain this; you don’t have to do it in person. Aliens' Travel Permit also allows you to enter other regions like Gyantse County, Shannan Region, Nyingchi Region, and Ngari Region. During your overland trip if you decide to take a small detour or visit a monastery in any of the above mentioned regions, Aliens' Travel Permit will come of use. You definitely need it to go to Shigatse and EBC.

Nepal Visa

Nepal Visa is relatively easy to get as visa-on-arrival option is available for all countries. All you have to do is fill up visa application and provide a passport sized photo. The amount to be paid depends on the number of days you are staying in Nepal. For example, for a 15- day visa you will be paying USD 25, for a 30- day visa you will be paying USD 30. You can pay it in any currencies other than Nepali and Indian currencies. If you want a visa for 150 days, you have to apply directly in the Department of Irrigation in Kathmandu. You can also obtain it in advance from the Nepal Embassy in your country. If you are entering Nepal by road from India, you can obtain the visa at the entry point to Nepal.
