Tibet, located on the northwest of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, is the highest region on the Earth. Commonly regarded as the “Roof of the World”, Tibet has an average of 4,000 meters above sea level. The sacred mountains and the holy lakes, as well as the religions here grant Tibet with mysterious atmosphere, which attracts people to yearn for it with their whole life.

There are over 3,000,000 people inhabited in Tibet with Tibetan people covered the major population. And other nationalities are Han, Hui, Menba, Luoba and so on. Tibetan nationality is one of the oldest nationalities in China, which was found before the Qin Dynasty. Most of the Tibetan people believe in Tibetan Buddhism, which was boosted and highly promoted in the 7th century among them. Buddhist monasteries and temples can be found in everywhere of Tibet with the most important and sacred monastery - Jokhang Monastery in the center of Lhasa. And there are a Buddhist worshiping room in most of the Tibetan people’ house for them to chant sutras and pray.

Lhasa is the capital city of Tibet with an altitude of 3,700. It is the sacred city among Tibetan people and tourists all over the world. There are the splendid Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple where gathering pilgrims coming from other places with the most pure mind. Shigatse is the second largest city in Tibet, praised as the most beautiful manor as everyone’s wish. Head south of it, one can get to Mount Everest, and head west can get to Ngari. Shannan is the resource of the Tibetan nationality and culture. The first palace in the history of Tibet, the first Tibetan King, the first scripture and etc can be found here. Nagchu means Black river in Tibetan language. It is praised as the place closest to the sky as it enjoys a very high altitude.
