Mount Siguniang, the highest peak of Qionglai Mountains in Western China, is one of the popular tourist attractions around Chengdu city. And the national park – Mt.Siguniang Scenic Area is comprised of the four peaks: Dafeng (5025m), Erfeng (5276 m), Sanfeng (5355m) and Yaomeifeng (6250m); and three majestic valleys: Shuangqiao Valley, Changping Valley and Haizi Valley.

Where is Mount Siguniang on the Map

Mount Siguniang Scenic Area is located in the boundary between Xiaojin County and Wenchuan County of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in western Sichuan Province. It is in the Rilong town, which is about 220km away from Chengdu. The nearest attractions in Sichuan are Dujiangyan Irrigation System and Danba, which is one of the most beautiful destinations in western Sichuan.

The mount Siguniang located at the east of the national park, between Changping Valley and Haizi Valley. It is a part of Qionglai Mountains, and its coordinate is 31°06′24″N 102°54′06″E.

Road Map to Mt. Siguniangshan from Chengdu

Mt.Siguniangshan can be only accessed from Chengdu by car. There are four ways from Chengdu to Siguniangshan, which are showed on the map below.

The most common route is from Chengdu to Mt.Siguniang via Dujiangyan, Yingxiu and Wolong. But this way is only for 4 to 7-seater cars. It takes about 6 hours from Chengdu to Mt. Siguniang by this way.

For cars having more than 7 seats, it is suggested to follow the route from Chengdu to Mount Siguniangshan via Maerkang. On the first day, you will pass through Dujiangyan, Wenchuan, Lixian, Miyaluo and get to Maerkang for overnight stay. And you keep to Mount Siguniang Scenic Area via Xiaojin County on the second day.

The route from Chengdu to Ya’an, Baoxing and head to Rilong town, where Mt. Siguniang located, has the limitation for cars over 17 seats. It is the shortest way which takes about 4 hours.

The Last way from Chengdu to Mount Siguniang via Kangding, Xinduqiao and Danba is the longest way, but a good way to enjoy a loop tour from Chengdu to Danba and Mount Siguniangshan.

In the Mount Siguniang National Park, the main attractions are located along the three valleys. You can take a leisure hiking tour in the valleys, during which you will enjoy the stunning landscapes, explore the temples and monasteries in the Valleys, and appreciate the great view of Mt. Siguniangshan in a distance. And for those adventures, they can climb the Dafeng or Erfeng summit of Mount Siguniang in the national park.

Most attractions are located along the three main valleys in Siguniangshan Scenic Area. Not only the nature attractions, but there are also the Tibetan Temples or Monasteries to visit. From west to east, the three valleys are Shuangqiao Valley, Changping Valley, and Haizi Valley. Among them, Shuangqiao Valley is the only valley, where eco-buses are running through. So, tourists can take visit all the best of Shuangqiao Valley leisurely in one day by taking the eco-buses. Changping Valley is the start point of the popular trekking tour from Changpinggou to Bipenggou. It takes about three days to finish this trekking. Haizigou is another valley for hiking. And if you want to climb the Mount Siguniang, you should enter the mountain area from Haizigou.

Changpingggou to Bipenggou Trekking Route Map

Trekking from Changpinggou in Siguniangshan area to Bipenggou in Li County is one of the most popular trekking routes in Sichuan province. The trekking takes about three days and you need to camp for two nights in Changpinggou. The toughest part of this trekking is to cross over the Yakou at 4700m on the third day.
