Why Choose Horse Riding in Mount Siguniang?
Generally speaking, when we talk about a Mount Siguniang tour, we actually talks about travelling through Changping Valley, Shuangqiao Valley and Haizi Valley, which are mainly consist of forests, canyons and the snow peaks above canyons. The scene is absolutely fantastic. However, except for Shuangqiao Vally, no cars or vehicles but only horses or walking by foot is available in Changping Valley and Haizi Valley. So horse riding is mainly a local feature. Besides, just image the picture of riding a horse through the original forests of Changping Valley, where you will pass a variety of streams and snow mountains for 6-7 hours and if you want you can also carry the tent with you so that you can camp in the grassland. How Does the Horse Riding Work?
Three valleys have different characteristic and landscapes, so the demanding of the travelling way or tools varies. For the Shuangqiao Valley, you can only choose to take the sightseeing bus which will cost you 80 yuan in the peak season (from the first day of April to the 30th of Nov.) and 60 yuan in the off season (from the start of Dec. to the 30th of Mar. of the next year) for the whole section with the overall length of 30 miles. Its entrance ticket charges 80 yuan for each person in the peak season and 50 yuan in the off season.

While for the Changping Valley, you should take the tour bus from the visitor centre to Lama Temple, which covers a journey about 7 miles and cost you 20 yuan. After that, you can either ride a horse to finish the rest of journeys or walk by foot. The whole length of Changping Valley is 29 miles and its entrance ticket is 70 yuan during peak season and 50 yuan during off season.
As for the Haizi Valley, you have to choose to ride horses or walk by foot for the whole region which totals in 19.2 miles.Its entrance ticket is 60 yuan in peak season and 40 yuan in off season. For information, please check it in the following two segments.
Horse Riding in Changping Valley
Changping Valley covers an area of about 100 square kilometers and inside the Four Girls Mountain sited in the spot 16 miles far from the entrance. Only a short passage can pass buses, across the rest part has to ride horses or walk. You can directly go to the foot of Four Girls Mountain and trek from Changping Valley to Bipeng Valley then you can even enter into Li County straightly.

The exact route is as follows:
From Lama Temple to Kushutan, you will ride the horse for 2 hours or you can walk on the walkways. Then from Kushutan to Longdong, it takes about half hour by horse riding, and same as the section from Longdong to Shajilin. From Shaji Forest to the Shangxiaganhaizi at the foot of Mount Siguniang, it takes about 1 hour by horse riding. From Shangxiaganhaizi to Lianghekou, you need to ride the horse for 1 hour. And it is also takes one hour for the following five sections, including Lianghekou to Muluozi, Muluozi to Liushuba, Liushuba to Jiguanshi, Jiguanshi to Shibaopeng, and Shibaopeng to Leigushi. The final secton, from Leigushi to Kazigou, you need to ride another one and half hour when the whole passage is finished.
The specific cost of riding is:
You buy the ticket at the Lama Temple and you get the number then you take your horse when they shout your number, which means that you cannot choose the horse but take whatever the odds gives you. There are three sites along the passage: from Lama Temple to Erdaoping, the horse riding cost is RMB 30; from Lama Temple to Kushutan, it costs RMB 50. From Kushutan to Muluozi, it costs from RMB 250 to RMB 300. But the cost of return route is usually about half of the process route.
Horse Riding in Haizi Valley
Touring Haizi Valley can only rely on walking or horse riding. Because of long distance, it usually takes a day. So it would be a good choice to stay the night in Haizi Valley. The following price of horse riding for each section is only provided as a reference: the round-trip ticket for the section of entrance to Guzhuangping or Chaoshanping is RMB 50/person (including the groom who can also act as the guider); from the entrance to the ole cow courtyard cost RMB 100 for back and forth; and from the entrance to the Dahaizi or Huahaizi will need RMB 150 for each person. If you want to go on riding, you can also bargain with the groom.

Travel Tips for Horse Riding in Mount Siguniang
There are several things that you should pay attention to when you choose to ride the horse in Mount Siguniang Scenic Area.
1. It is suitable to wear hiking shoes, sneakers. And it is not right to wear a pair of glasses with metal edge, which would cause harm to you if you fall down from the horse.
2. It is suggested to wear a pair of relatively soft tight long pants and also bring good gloves.
3. Women should not wear any decoration in hair in case of scratching the head.
4. Choose the right horse to suite your weight and ask help from groom whenever you have some problems.
5. Check your luggage very well.
6. Love and care your horse and go down from the horse when you come to the dangerous place.
