As a local travel agency in Sichuan and knowing well about the in-depth tour in the western Sichuan, we recommend the following things to do when you visit in Seda.
Top 1 Study Buddhism with Lama and Juemu
Located in the 18km of southeast side of Seda county, with an elevation around 3700 meters, Larong Wuming Buddhist Academy is the world's largest school for Tibetan Buddhism. Every day, the Jueshi or Lama ( male monk ) and Juemu ( female nun ) go to the school and study Buddhism. They have a few hours a day to rest but during the rest of the day they study and pray there.
Lama and Juemu will study at the different scripture halls from 8 to 10 o'clock each day, and Lama in the ancient scripture hall and Juemu in the juemu scripture hall which was built by themselves. If you are visiting at that time, you will have a good chance to study with the Lama and Juemu because you are welcomed in the academy. Of course, entering into the hall, all are required to take off shoes, hats and not open an umbrella, and even in the rainy or snowy day, all the Buddhists are under the rain and snow.

Top 2 Personally Experience Tianzang Funeral
For the Tibetans, Tianzang is the most solemn funeral. All Tibetans hope to be practiced Tianzang when they die because it is the largest wish in their lifetime. In most Tibetan areas, Tianzang' process is not open to the visitors. But Seda Tianzang Site is located at the mountainside (over 4000m) near to the Academy. Under normal condition, the funeral is holden at 13:00 and up to 16:00 each day.
When a Tibetan person die naturally, the body is placed at home for three days, and the Master will roll up the body to be a infant size while chanting over for it, and then it is borne on the special person to the Tianzang Site. After the lamas chanting, the Master starts to dissect corpse to loaf, basing on certain procedures. Afterwards, the vultures, one of god bird in Tibetan area, fly to eat the loaf. When they eat up the corpse loaf, it means that the soul of the dead goes to the heaven. In order to express respect to the custom and belief, taking photos is forbidden strictly.

Top 3 Enjoy the Night Scene of Buddhist Academy
For visitors back from the 3rd Pole, the night scene of highland is beautiful with shining stars of the sky. However, around the Buddhist Academy, it is lights scattering on the mountains and valley. Although the lights are not as gorgeous as that of city's neon, the faint lights fly from thousands of Buddhist's dormitories and gather together, which seems that soundless power gather together here, making visitors feel more shock in the silent night.
From the platform next to Tancheng, or from Larong Hotel, you can look down at the whole valley and enjoy the silent and dazzling night. The night scene is more beautiful than what you have seen before at any places.
