Highland Barley Wine, called as “Qiang” in Tibetan, is made of highland barley which is one kind of main grain produced in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Zanba is a traditional staple food for Tibetan people and it is eaten by Tibetans every day. Zanba is made from highland barley. Wash the highland barley first and then dry it in the sun. When the barley is waterless, grind it into flour. Add some buttered tea, milk residue and sugar into the barley flour and stir them together. Yak Meat

Block noodles with pickled Chinese cabbage is a kind of traditional Tibetan food in Ruoergai. The process for making picked Chinese cabbage is to boil the cabbage and put it into a jar when the boiled cabbage is cold. Seal the jar and store it in a shade place. After about a week, the picked Chinese cabbage can be eaten. Glutinous Potato Cake

Glutinous Potato Cake is a kind of local snake in Ruoergai. Its main raw material is potatoes. The steps for making glutinous potato cakes: steam potatoes firstly, then put the steamed potatoes in a container and smash them. Next, strike the sticky potatoes into glutinous cakes. Yogurt

Yogurt in Ruoergai is made of Yak milk. Its flavor is pure and strong. It looks like soft tofu and tastes sour and sweet. It is totally different from the ordinary yogurt in other place. The yogurt of original taste is so sour that few people can eat it. So, if you do not like sour, you can add some sugar or honey in it.
