Trip Overview
After arriving from Singapore, you will spend some time exploring the Sichuan capital of Chengdu, taking in the wondrous sights before heading off to visit the 2,000 year old Dujiangyan Irrigation System, an ancient marvel of modern agriculture. Then you will spend the day as a panda keeper volunteer in Wolong Panda Base, looking after these endangered and beautiful creatures for the day. You can experience preparing and feeding the pandas, cleaning out their habitats, and interacting with them on a one-on-one basis, to learn more about their way of life and the things that are being done to protect them.

Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Fly from Singapore to Chengdu
Taking direct flight from Singapore Changi Airport to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. Upon arrival in Chengdu Airport, our guide will be meeting you and get you transferred to your hotel in Chengdu. The rest of the day is at leisure. (The international flight from Singapore to Chengdu, departing at 12:45, 16:00, 17:45, suggests to be booked by yourself.)
Stay overnight at Chengdu.
Day 2: Chengdu Tour: Qingyang Taoist Temple, Renmin Park, Wuhou Temple, Jinli Street

In the morning, our tour guide & driver will pick you up from your hotel, and drive to visit Qingyang Taoist Temple. The temple got its popular name from the two blue-green goats made of bronze in the Sanqing Main Hall in the temple. It has been famous as "No.1 Taoist Temple in Sichuan" and "No.1 Temple in West China", and a famous tourism and sightseeing attraction of Taoist cultural heritage. Then move on to Renmin Park to experience the most authentic Chengdu local life. Having a cup of tea in a traditional teahouse and watching the local old couples dancing, you will enjoy typical leisure lifestyle of Chengdu.
In the afternoon, visit Wuhou Temple, a temple in memory of Zhuge Liang who was the most famous military strategist in the Three Kingdoms. Surrounded by old cypresses and classical red walls, the temple has an atmosphere of nostalgia. Then visit Jinli Ancient Street, one of the oldest streets to appreciate the local snacks and artifacts. The elegant style of the architectures tells you what Sichuan looks like during the Qing Dynasty.

Day 3: Dujiangyan Tour: Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Qingcheng Mountain

In the morning, your tour guide will meet you at your hotel in Chengdu and drive to Dujiangyan City to see the world famous Dujiangyan Irrigation Project. It’s 74km away from Chengdu. On the way, you can have a short break on the vehicle.
Dujiangyan is a great engineering paralleled to the Great Wall in the civilization history of China. It is the only oldest grand water conservancy engineering in the world so far that piloted the water without a dam. Yu Zui, Feishayan and Baoping Estuary are three projects inseparably interconnected, addressing problems of automatic bypass flow, desilting, and water inlet control of the river in a scientific way. In over two thousands years, the ancient weirs have lead surging Minjiang River into the vast Chengdu plain, creating a rich and beautiful “heavenly state”where people control the water. Climbing on the Yulei Pavilion, you will have a bird’s eye view of the whole Dujiangyan project.
In the afternoon, we will climb Qingcheng Mountain, right in the behind of Dujiangyan. Known as “the most tranquil place”since ancient times, Mount Qingcheng was the origin of Taoism of China with thousand stairs leading to tranquility. In 2000, Qingcheng Mountain was identified as World Cultural Heritage and the first batch of national 5A scenic area. The ancestral mountain and ancestral hall in Tianshi Path has gathered the essence of Taoist culture. With mountains in four sides, the hills, brooks, valleys and temples are hidden in the lush woods. You will obtain inner peace and embrace the nature in this tranquil mountain.

Day 4: Wolong Tour: Wolong Panda Base Volunteer

Clean the leftovers of bamboo
In this day, we will depart from Dujiangyan to Wolong Panda Research Center. Your guide will pick you up early in the morning in the hotel in Dujaingayn and drive for about 50 kilometers away (about 1 hour 18 minutes' driving from Dujiangyan).
Upon arrival of Shenshuping Panda Base in Wolong Panda Reserve, we will firstly get gears and register for panda care. Then, led by professional panda keeper, you will enter the panda rooms and clean the leftovers of bamboo and remove panda dung, and wash the panda house. In the meantime, you will learn much knowledge of panda care and panda behavior, and their natural habitat.
Then, the staff will take you to visit the giant panda gardens to closely observe adorable pandas. From 11:00-12:00, you will be able to feed pandas with fresh bamboo, carrot, or panda cake.
During the noon, you can take a break and have lunch while conversing with the permanent employees. If you still have time, you can explore the base, talk with the employees, or even meet some cute pandas. From 1:00-2:00pm, you will go to the Panda Cinema to watch a short documentary to acquire more knowledge about pandas.
In the afternoon, you will clean the panda living areas and feed them again. You’ll also get the chance to learn how to make steamed corn bread, and later feed pandas with them. After all the activities are over, you can plant some bamboo trees, get your certificates as well as some souvenirs to wrap your day. After that, you’ll travel back from Wolong to Chengdu.
Stay overnight at Chengdu.
Notice:
1. Volunteer activities charge for 700 RMB per day. You need to book it in advance and pay down payment for the tour.
2. The age limit for the volunteering program is 12 years and above.
3. Your latest health check report should be provided.
4. Please do not make noises or sudden movements that might startle the pandas.
5. It is advisable that you do not wear any strong smelling perfumes, deodorants, or creams as pandas are sensitive to smell.
Day 5: Depart from Chengdu
The guide will transfer you to the airport and help you get on board. Hope you have a nice trip home and look forward to traveling with you again! (The direct international flight from Chengdu to Singapore, departing at 10:05, 13:45, 18:25,23:10, suggests to be booked by yourself.)

- Tips and gratuities for the trip leader and driver;
- Entrance Ticket Fees of Baoguo Temple;
- The expense of a personal nature like alcoholic beverages, laundry, phone call, etc;
- Optional activities and excursions not specified in the itinerary;
- China Entry visa fees;
Itinerary Alteration
Once we receive your tour deposit, which is followed by signing the contract, your reservation is secured with legitimacy. Our staff will reserve the accommodation, vehicle, site tickets, meals and more, and pay the deposit for our suppliers. So if you want to alter to another itinerary, you need to cover the deposit we've paid, while no service charge is needed if you make some changes on the itinerary you booked.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
If you cancel the tour because of your personal issues, you will be liable to pay cancellation charges that are bounded by 3rdpoletour.com cancellation policy as follows:
1.) If you cancel the tour more than 30 days before the trip starts, you will forfeit 10% of the total land cost per person;
2.) If you cancel the tour 15-30 days prior to your trip start date, 20% of your total land tour cost will be forfeited as a cancellation fee.
3.) If you cancel the tour 7-15 days before the trip starts, you will forfeit 30% of land cost.
4.) If you cancel the tour 7 days prior to your tour start date, you will forfeit 50% of land cost.
5.) If you fail to show up or cancel at your scheduled arrival time without prior notice or later than that, you will forfeit 100% of the land cost.
If the tour has to be cancelled because of the natural disaster or the government restrictions that is beyond both parties control, we will charge only USD50 per person, this is just the service fee and larbor fee during the preparation. This is a rare occurrence!
