Trip Overview

An intense five-day tour from Hong Kong, the commercial centre of Southern China, to Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan, this is an awesome experience of the major tourist attractions in these two stunning cities.

Widely recognized as “Pearl of the Orient”, Hong Kong has a wealth of sites that are of interest, from ancient to modern. Your tour begins in Hong Kong, with a tour of the city’s major attractions, including the popular Aberdeen Harbour, with its floating village, and the wonders of Repulse Bay and its beautiful tropical beach. Then you continue around the city to reach the heights of Victoria Peak, the highest point on the island of Hong Kong. The following day, you will travel to Chengdu by flight, and spend the day relaxing and doing your own thing, before spending the next day exploring the wonders of Chengdu. As well as visiting such historic sites as the Wenshu Temple and the Renmin Park, you will also take a visit to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. This unique panda centre has been responsible for recovering the pandas from the brink of extinction, and is one of the prime centers for panda breeding, where you can get up-close and personal with these cuddly giants.

Day 1: Arrive in Hong Kong

When you arrive in Hong Kong, our guide will meet you at the airport carrying a placard with your name. Once your luggage is collected, he will guide you to your hotel, where you can rest for the remainder of the day, or explore some of the sights around the hotel.

Day 2: Hong Kong Tour: Aberdeen Harbor, Repulse Bay, Victoria Peak

The first part of the day will be spent at the Aberdeen Harbor floating community. This floating village is well known around the world, and is famed for its seafood restaurants. You can hire a sampan to explore the harbor area and take a stroll along the popular Aberdeen Promenade, which is like a little slice of seaside England in Asia.

After lunch you will be taken to Repulse Bay, where you can spend time on a beautiful tropical beach, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is also the site of one of the most expensive residential areas in Hong Kong, although it is not clear why the name changed from Chonghom Bay, which was the name originally given to the area in 1841.

Later, as the sun sets, you will visit Victoria Peak, the highest point of the island of Hong Kong. The tram can take you all the way to the top, but for the adventurous, you can take the hiking trail up. The views for the peak across Hong Kong harbor are absolutely stunning, especially at sunset.

Day 3: Take Flight from Hong Kong to Chengdu

Today, we will escort you to take a flight from Hong Kong to Chengdu. Upon your arrival at the Chengdu Shuangliu Airport, our tour guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel in Chengdu. The rest of the day is for you to relax.

Day 4: Chengdu Tour: Panda Base, Wenshu Temple, Renmin Park and Jinli Ancient Street

Today after breakfast, we will firstly pay a visit to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (known as Chengdu Panda Base), where we can explore the daily life of the cute pandas and get close to the lovely creatures. Then move on to Wenshu Temple, a typical ancient monastery of Qing Dynasty in Chengdu downtown.

In the afternoon, we will visit Renmin Park to experience the most authentic Chengdu local life. Having a cup of tea in a traditional teahouse, watching the local old couples dancing. You will enjoy typical leisure lifestyle of Chengdu. Then move on to Jinli Ancient Street, one of the oldest streets to appreciate the local snacks and artifacts. The elegant style of the architectures tells you what Sichuan looks like during the Qing Dynasty.

Day 5: Depart from Chengdu

The guide will transfer you to the airport or train station for your next destination.

International and domestic flight/train to Chengdu (Note: we accept the domestic flight/train tickets booking to Chengdu from other cities in advance, check the updated ticket availibility and cost with your travel consultant);
Meals that are not specified in the itinerary (Averagely a meal in the 3rdpole region cost 3~10USD per person);
Tips and gratuities for the trip leader and driver;
The expense of a personal nature like alcoholic beverages, laundry, phone call, etc;
Optional activities and excursions not specified in the itinerary;
China Entry visa fees;

Itinerary Alteration

Once we receive your tour deposit, which is followed by signing the contract, your reservation is secured with legitimacy. Our staff will reserve the accommodation, vehicle, site tickets, meals and more, and pay the deposit for our suppliers. So if you want to alter to another itinerary, you need to cover the deposit we've paid, while no service charge is needed if you make some changes on the itinerary you booked.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

If you cancel the tour beacuse of your personal issues, you will be liable to pay cancellation charges that are bounded by 3rdpoletour.com cancellation policy as follows:

1.) If you cancel the tour more than 30 days before the trip starts, you will forfeit 10% of the total land cost per person;
2.) If you cancel the tour 15-30 days prior to your trip start date, 20% of your total land tour cost will be forfeited as a cancellation fee.
3.) If you cancel the tour 7-15 days before the trip starts, you will forfeit 30% of land cost.
4.) If you cancel the tour 7 days prior to your tour start date, you will forfeit 50% of land cost.
5.) If you fail to show up or cancel at your scheduled arrival time without prior notice or later than that, you will forfeit 100% of the land cost.

If the tour has to be cancelled because of the natural disaster or the government restrictions that is beyond both parties control, we will charge only USD50 per person, this is just the service fee and larbor fee during the preparation. This is a rare occurrence!
