The 3-day tour offers a rare chance for panda-lovers to get close to cute pandas and learn more about them in two bases. In Dujiangyan Panda Base, you can hold pandas and take a precious picture with them intimately. In Wolong Research Center, you will experience colorful activities as a volunteer to take care of the lovely creature, feeding them, cleaning panda houses and making cakes for them.

Day 1: Chengdu Tour: Jinsha Site Museum, Renmin Park, Wuhou Shrine, Jinli Ancient Street

Upon your arrival at Chengdu, our tour guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel in Chengdu downtown. After a rest in hotel, we visit Jinsha Site Museum to learn the history of Chengdu 3,000 years ago. Jinsha Site Museum is a museum built on ruins to protect, study and display Jinsha culture of Chinese Shang and Zhou Dynasty (1600 BC - 221BC) and ancient civilization. It is mainly composed of Relic Hall, Exhibition Hall, Cultural Relics Protection and Restoration Center, and garden district. Among them, Relic Hall was constructed on the site where large scale of ritual activities were held in the ancient time. It’s the most completely preserved sacrifice remains in China with the biggest number of relics. When you are touring in it, don’t miss the golden band with Sun and Magic Birds which is now the logo of Chengdu.
And then, we will head to the last stop of Chengdu, Renmin Park, where you can have a rest and get to learn the laid-back lifestyle of Chengdu people. Renmin Park is locate in the central downtown of Chengdu with a long history of over 100 years. Nowadays, it’s still a resort of Chengdu people to enjoy their leisure time especially in sunny days. Parallel of outdoor tea houses crowded with guests drinking teas and chatting with friends constitute a special scenery of the park. Sit down, order a pot of Chinese tea, make a casual chat with your friends and watching tourists boating on the lake, your exhaustion on road will be eliminated. You can also try the ear picking service of folk technicians in the park, which is another highly distinctive experience in Chengdu.
After lunch, you will have a short break before going to see Wuhou Shrine. Wuhou Shrine is a famous tourists attraction in Chengdu since it was built to commemorate heroes of the King Liu Bei, and Zhuge Liang, famous military counsellor in Chinese history, in Shu Kingdom (AD 221- AD 263). Except for the tomb of Liu Bei in the central yard, there are also sophisticated inscriptions, couplets that are famous in China, precious works of calligraphy and painting and so on. The Wuhou Shrine is not only a site for people to commemorate heroes of Shu Kingdom, but also a museum for people to learn about the history of the Three Kingdoms Period.
Stepping out of a side door of Wuhou Shrine, you will find yourself in a hustle old street. It’s just Jinli Ancient Street. Jinli is a commercial pedestrian street built with the architectural style of the traditional old town in western Sichuan Province from Qing Dynasty. Along the street are numerous stores selling special local products like Shu Embroidery, lacquer products, folk handicrafts, curios, or calligraphies and paintings of celebrities. Here you will experience colorful traditional folk cultures. When night approaches and lamps are lighten up, the street will be decorated with beautiful light, making it more attractive. It’s a good time for you to take some great pictures.

Day 2: Dujiangyan Tour: Dujiangyan Panda Base, Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Qingcheng Mountain

Today, you will experience one of a highlights of your 3-day tour. In the early morning, your tour guide & driver will pick you up from your hotel in Chengdu, and drive about 1 hour to the Dujiangyan Panda Base and assist you to sign up to get a uniform and gloves. Your guide will introduce you to the professional panda keepers. The panda keepers will guide you to meet the cute panda. You will make your magical experience even more memorable by upgrading to hold a giant panda. Get your photos taken as you hold an adorable panda in an intimate environment. The money raised by upgrading is donated to the non-profit center to continue vital research into the endangered species.
Notice:Tourists are allowed to take pictures with a panda next to them for about 30 seconds. The donation amount is CNY1,800 per person. Only 30 tourists are allowed to take close-up photos with pandas each day, so please try to book in advance. Sometimes the program listed in the description could be adjusted according to health condition of the pandas. Please confirm with us in advance.
After lunch, we will go to see the world famous Dujiangyan Irrigation System during which you can have a short break on the vehicle. Dujiangyan is a great engineering paralleled to the Great Wall in the civilization history of China. It is the only oldest grand water conservancy engineering in the world so far that piloted the water without a dam. Yu Zui, Feishayan and Baoping Estuary are three projects inseparably interconnected, addressing problems of automatic bypass flow, desilting, and water inlet control of the river in a scientific way. In over two thousands years, the ancient weirs have lead surging Minjiang River into the vast Chengdu plain, creating the rich and beautiful “heavenly state”where people control the water. Climbing on the Yulei Pavilion, you will have a bird’s eye view of the whole Dujiangyan project.
In the afternoon, we will climb Qingcheng Mountain, right in the behind of Dujiangyan. Known as “the most tranquil place”since ancient times, Mount Qingcheng was the origin of Taoism of China with thousand stairs leading to tranquility. The ancestral mountain and ancestral hall in Tianshi Path has gathered the essence of Taoist culture. In 2000, Qingcheng Mountain was identified as World Cultural Heritage and the first batch of national 5A scenic area. With mountains in four sides, the hills, brooks, valleys and temples are hidden in the lush woods. You will obtain inner peace and embrace the nature in this tranquil mountain.

Day 3: Wolong Tour: Panda Volunteer in Wolong Panda Research Center

Tour the Natural Habitat of Giant Pandas

In this day, we will depart from Dujiangyan to Wolong Panda Research Center. Your guide will pick you up early in the morning and drive for 66 kilometers on the way. About 1 hour 16 min later, you will arrive at the panda base.
We will firstly get gears and register for panda care. Then, led by professional panda keeper, you will enter the panda rooms and clean the leftovers of bamboo and remove panda dung, and wash the panda house. In the meantime, you will learn much knowledge of panda care and panda behavior, and their natural habitat.
Then, the staff will take you to visit the giant panda gardens to closely observe adorable pandas. From 11:00-12:00, you will be able to feed pandas with fresh bamboo, carrot, or panda cake.
During the noon, you can take a break and have lunch while conversing with the permanent employees. If you still have time, you can explore the base, talk with the employees, or even meet some cute pandas. From 1:00-2:00pm, you will go to the Panda Cinema to watch a short documentary to learn more about pandas.
In the afternoon, you will clean the panda living areas and feed them again. You’ll also get the chance to learn how to make steamed corn bread, and later feed pandas with them. After all the activities are over, you can plant some bamboo trees, get your certificates as well as some souvenirs to wrap your day.
Notice:
1. Volunteer activities charge for 700 RMB per day. You need to pay down payment to book the tour.
2. Your latest health check report should be provided.
3. Do not litter in natural reserve. Enjoy the eco-tour.
Late in the afternoon, we will head back from Wolong to Chengdu. The tour ends, and you will be escorted to airport for your flight to next destination or home.
