Kunming Changshui International Airport
Kunming Changshui International Airport is the one of the hub airports in China, connecting Southeast Asia, South Asia and Europe. It is also the only hub airport in southwestern China. It was built in 2007 and the construction lasted four years. Kunming Changshui Airport was in operation on June 28th, 2012 finally. It is located in Changshui village, Guandu District, with a distance of 25 kilometers far from Kunming downtown area. The fast food restaurants are more convenient and time-consuming for passengers if you are in a hurry. Left Luggage
At Kunming Changshui International Airport, you can leave your luggage at the left luggage office for a few hours or days. There are four service positions at the airport: left side of NO.1 entrance in departure hall of third floor, right side of NO.4 entrance, A area and K area, which are all in the departure hall of the third floor. The service fee depends on the luggage size, and generally, the lowest fee is RMB 10.

Both of the Kunming West Bus Station and Kunming South Bus Station are located southwest to Kunming Airport. The famous scenic spot in Yunnan, the Stone Forest, is 97 kilometers southeast to Kunming Changhsui International Airport. Since there is no shuttle bus between the airport and Stone Forest, you should get to the downtown area from the airport first, and then take a bus to Stone Forest. It is recommended to stay in Kunming city for one night and then move on to Stone Forest on the next day.
Kunming Changshui International Airport to Kunming Railway Station
When you come out from the airport, you can take airport line 2 to get to Kunming Railway Station with the distance of about 24 kilometers. It will take about one hour. The cost is RMB 25 per person. The airport line 2 departs in every twenty minutes. The earliest one leaves from Kunming Airport at 8:30 in the morning, and the last 23:00.
In addition, you can also take subway Line 6 to get to Kunming East Bus Station from Kunming Changshui Airport. And then, you can take the Bus No.60 to Kunming Railway Station. The subway ticket is RMB 5 and the bus ticket is RMB 2.
If you are in a hurry, it is suggested to take a taxi from Kunming Changshui International Airport directly to Kunming Railway Station, for the first two means will be cheaper but waste much more time.
Kunming Changshui International Airport to South Bus Station
Kunming South Bus Station offers long-distance buses from Kunming to Jianshui and Yuanyang, where you can visit Jianshui Ancient Town and Yuanyang Rice Terraces. There is no shuttle bus running between the airport and South Bus Station. You need to take both the subway and buses. So it is highly recommended to take a taxi or chartered a car to South Bus Station from Kunming Airport directly. The distance between Kunming Changshui Airport and Kunming South Bus Station is about 30 kilometers and will take about 30 to 50 minutes.
Kunming Changshui International Airport to Dali Ancient Town
There are daily flights from Kunming Changshui International Airport to Dali Airport, which takes about 1 hour and costs around RMB 500. However, since the Fengyi Airport in Dali is too far away from Dali Ancient town, it is not recommended to get to Dali from Kunming by air. And it is not faster than taking a coach to Dali from Kunming Western Bus Station.
You can take the Line b1 of bus No.919 from the airport to Kunming Western Bus Station and then take a tourist bus to Dali Ancient Town. The whole journey from Kunming Western Bus Station to Dali Ancient Town is about 3.5 hours and cost about RMB 130.
Also, you can get to Kunming Railway Station upon your arrival in Kunming Airport, and take an overnight train from Kunming to Dali, which is more economical than taking a bus. It will take you about 8 hours totally with the expense of RMB 64 for a hard seat, RMB 97.5 for a hard sleeper, and RMB 149.5 for a soft sleeper berth.
Kunming Changshui International Airport to Lijiang
You can take a flight from Kunming Changshui International Airport to Lijiang Airport. It takes about one hour and the full ticket price is RMB 1270. In fact, you can get more than 60% off in low seasons.
Since there is no direct shuttle bus from Kunming Changshui International Airport to Lijiang Old Town, you need to get to Kunming Downtown first, and then take a lond-distance bus or a train from Kunmign to Lijiang.
To get to Lijiang from Kunming by coach, you should get to Kunming West Bus Station from Changshui Airport. The distance between Kunming and Lijiang is about 500 kilomters. You will spend about nine hours with the cost of almost RMB 200 by coach.
To get to Lijiang from Kunming by train, you need to get to Kunming Railway Station from Kunming Changshui Airport, and then take a train at the railway station. It will take you 8 to 10 hours in total with the expense of RMB 89 for a hard seat, RMB 141.5 for a hard sleeper, and RMB 217 for a soft sleeper berth.
Kunming Changshui International Airport to Stone Forest
In fact, there is no direct shuttle bus from Kunming Changshui Airport to Stone Forest, the top destination in Kunming city. You can take subway line six outside the airport to get to East Bus Station, and then take coach to arrive at Stone Forest. What’s more, you can choose to take a taxi to get to Nanyao Bus Station, and then take coach to arrive at the scenic spot. It will take you nearly one hour and a half. Or, you can also take taxi to the Stone Forest directly. The distance is about 94 kilometers and you will spend about one hour on the way.
Hotels near Kunming Changshui International Airport
If you intend to live in hotels which are near Kunming Airport, there are lots of options for you to choose. These hotels are all very near the Kunming Airport, within a distance of one kilometer. For example, you can live in Yongdu Business Hotel, located in middle Airport Road, Baoli Hotel and Caiyun Hotel. These hotels all offer service of airport pickup and some basic hotel service. The expense ranges from RMB88 to RMB 300. In addition, if you want to live in high-level hotel around Kunming Changshui Airport, you can choose Haoting Hotel or Fujin Hotel, which are 0.11 kilometer far from the airport. You can easily find it. However, the expense is relatively higher than other hotels.
