A Panda Base, as the name implied, is the place specially designed and serving for the living and breeding of pandas. So what experience you are you going to encounter in panda bases? Here are the details.
Chengdu Panda Base – the Place to See so Many Pandas even Baby Pandas
Chengdu Panda Base is located in the Futou Mountain, the northern suburbs of Chengdu, 10 km from the Chengdu downtown. Surrounded by bamboos and other trees, flowers and birds, fresh air, mountain scenery and artificial landscape, it is a perfect place to understand the giant panda, return to nature, and to sightsee or to have an entertainment. Its opening hours last from 07:30am to 18:00pm, all year round and the ticket price is RMB 58 per person.
Chengdu Panda Base
In Chengdu Panda Base, there is No.1 Villa, No. 2 Villa and two nursery houses, the Sunlight Nursery house and the Moonlight Nursery House. No. 1 and No.2 villas is habited by the adult pandas, where you can you find them playing, eating, sleeping.
But generally, they are solitary. And because they don't like high temperature, so in the hot time of a day, they often stay inside the house when you might don’t get the chance to see them.

While in nursery houses, you can see baby pandas in the breeding season. But we suggest you to get to No.2 Outdoor Enclosure of Moonlight Nursery House before 9 am. Where you cannot only see closely how the panda mother nursing their babies, you can even carry some ones with you to take a picture (you have to pay for that, of course).
Dujiangyan Panda Valley – not only to see pandas but also join in a panda volunteer job
Dujiangyan Panda Valley is located in Baima Village, Yutang Town, Dujiangyan, and is about 50 km away from Chengdu. This site is the first research center established for the purpose of releasing giant panda into the wild in China.
This panda base has a semi-wildness transitional training zone where pandas are trained to adapt to the nature. When they are ready, they will be set free into the wild.
Dujiangyan Panda Valley
For the visitors, you can spend 2 or more hours to visit the panda valley, but in addition to observing them, you also get the chance to join in a panda volunteer job. This program aims to provide panda fans an occasion to get close to them. If you successfully join in this program, you can learn many things about pandas. The activities you can do includes cleaning up the bamboo, cleaning giant panda’s faces, washing their enclosures, feeding them, preparing their foods and what’s more, studying them if you are a scientists somehow. At last, you will have a quiz about the knowledge of giant pandas.

Wolong Panda Base – see pandas, do the volunteer job and track the natural habitat of giant panda in wild
Wolong National Nature Reserve is located in the southwest of Wenchuan County, 130km away from Chengdu. Established in 1963 with an initial size of about 20,000 hectares, the reserve was further expanded in 1975, covering an area of about 200,000 hectares in the Qionglai Mountains region. The region, including the Panda Research Center, was largely devastated on May 12, 2008, by a catastrophic earthquake.
Bifengxia Panda Base
For the time being the giant pandas have been relocated to the Bifengxia Panda Base, which is also managed by the China Panda Protection and Research Center. Later, a new panda center was built in Shenshuping of Gengda Town in the reserve and was put into use since Oct. 30, 2012. From then on, pandas were gradually transferred to their new home. On May 11, 2016, Shenshuping Panda Center started to receive visitors.
Since then, more and more people start to visit this. In this panda base, they also provide the program of being a volunteer. And since this base is a natural reserve, pandas to some degree are living in the wild habitat, therefore, when you visit this site, you are able to track the natural habitat of giant panda in wild, which must be another unforgettable experience.
