Mount Emei Transportation

Mount Emei is located in Emeishan city, Sichuan Province. It is about 150km away from Chengdu and only 36km far away from Leshan. There are many different forms of transport available for travelers to get to Emei Mountain from Chengdu, Leshan and other cities in Sichuan Province.

Get to Emei from Chengdu

There are various ways of transport available for you to get to Mount Emei from Chengdu. You can choose to get to Emeishan from Chengdu by bus, by high-speed train or by chartered car.

By Bus

There are many buses from Chengdu to Emei every day. If you want to get to Mount Emei scenic directly, you can take a bus at Chengdu Xinnanmen Bus Station to get to Emeishan Baoguosi Bus Station. The ticket price is RMB 41. And you can take the bus before 7:00pm every day. If you want to go to Emei downtown first, you can take the bus at Xinnanmen Bus Station and get off the bus at Emei Bus Station.

By High-speed Train

You can take a Chengdu-Mianyang-Leshan intercity high-speed train at Chengdu East Railway Station and Chengdu South Railway Station to Mount Emei. It takes about one and a half hours to get to Emeishan Railway Station. The ticket price is RMB 65 for the second class seat from Chengdu East Railway Station and RMB 62 for the second class seat from Chengdu South Railway Station. Emeishan Railway station is only 5 minutes' drive to Emeishan Scenic Area. After you arrive at Emeishan Railway Station, you can take Bus No.5A to get to Emeishan Baoguosi Scenic Area.

By Chartered Car

If you choose to go to Emei Mountain by chartered car, there are two travelling routes available.

Route 1: Chengdu – Cheng-Ya Highway – Cheng-Le Highway – Jiajiang – Emeishan
It takes about 2 hours to get to Emeishan Scenic Area. And this route is suitable for travelers who only want to travel Emeishan or whose traveling time is limited.

Route 2: Chengdu – Cheng-Ya Highway – Cheng-Le Highway – Leshan Buddha – Emeishan
The two main scenic spots, Leshan Giant Buddha and Mount Emei, are all included in this route. If you choose travel with this route, it will take about 2 days.

Get to Emei from Leshan

The distance from Leshan to Emeishan is only 36km. You can choose to get to Emei from Leshan by bus, by chartered car or by high-speed train.

By Bus

It takes about 40 minutes to get to Emei from Leshan by bus. You can take a bus from Leshan to Emei at Leshan Bus Station or Leshan Xiaoba Bus Station.If you want to go to Emeishan down town, take the bus from Leshan Bus Station to Emeishan Bus Station. The ticket price is RMB 8. If you want to get to Emeishan Scenic Area directly, you can take the bus from Leshan Xiaoba Bus Station to Emeishan Baoguosi Scenic Area. 

By Chartered Car

You can also choose to go to Emeishan Mountain from Leshan by chartered car. It takes only about 30 minute. In addition, you can leave for Emeishan whenever you want if you take a chartered car.

By High-speed Train

It only takes about 15 minutes from Leshan to Mount Emei by high-speed train. It is only 5 minutes' drive from Emeishan Railway Station to Emeishan Scenic Area.

Emei Downtown to Scenic Area

By Public Bus

If you are in Emei downtown, you can take Bus No.5 to get to Emeishan Scenic Area. The starting station of Bus No.5 is the bus company in the middle of Mingshan Road. The stations along this bus route are Memorial Archway of this World Famous Mountain, Emeishan Scenic Area Bus Station, Emeishan Hotel, Lingxiu Threat, Lingxiu Hot Spring, Emeishan Grand Hotel, Hongzhushan Hotel, Baoguosi Temple and Fuhusi Temple.

By Taxi

It is also convenient to go to Emeishan Scenic Area by taxi. Emeishan is a small city. It is not very expensive to take a taxi to Emeishan scenic area from downtown. For example, if you are at Emei Bus Station, it only takes about 10 minutes to get to Emeishan Scenic Area and costs around RMB 20.

By Shuttle Bus

The road in Emeishan Scenic Area is about 61.69kms' long. Beside the Starting Station (Baoguosi Bus station), there are other four bus stations along the road, including Wuxiangang Bus Station, Wangniansi Bus Station, Linggongli Bus Station and Leidongping Bus Station.

Baoguosi Bus station - Wangniansi Bus Station: 20RMB/per

Off-season (1, November – 25, April): 7:00am – 16:00pm
Peak Season (26, April – 30, October): 6:00am – 17:00pm
Golden Week: 5:00am – 17:00pm

By Cable Car

It is quick and saving engery to go up Mount Emei by cable car. In fact, there are two cable cars in Mount Emei. One is Wanniansi Cable Car, which is between the Wanniansi Parking Lot to Wanniansi Temple. Another is Jinding Cable Car, which starts from Leidongping to the Golden Submit.

Huagan, also called as “Sedan Chair”, is a special kind of transport in Emeishan Mountain Scenic Area. All the Huagan in the scenic area are managed and priced together. The average price is about 15RMB/Mile/Ride.
