Giant Panda Breeding Research Base
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is located in the northern suburbs of Chengdu, about 10 km from the downtown Chengdu. A 35 minutes of drive by taxi will take you there. It was found in 1987 with the purpose to provide an ideal and suitable natural living circumstance for the Chinese Giant Panda. Nearly eighty five percent of the wild pandas in the world are residing in Sichuan, which make it of great meaning to visit this base in Chengdu. Jinli Ancient Street
Located to the east of the Wuhou Memorial Temple, Jinli Ancient Street is a stage of the life and a particularly representative of Chengdu. It is known as “First Street in the Shu Kingdom”, one of the busiest street in the history of Xishu. The buildings on both sides of the street are built with the architectural style of the traditional old town in western Sichuan Province from the Qing Dynasty. It contains numerous statues to Emperor Liu Bei, Zhuge Liang and other officials of the Shu Kingdom, as well as sophisticated inscriptions, couplets that are famous in China, the precious works of calligraphy and painting and so on. The Wuhou Memorial Temple is not only a site for people to commemorate Zhuge Liang, but also a museum for people to learn about the history of the Three Kingdoms Period.
Du Fu’ s Thatched Cottage
Dufu’ s Thatched Cottage is a museum and memorial for Dufu, one of the most famous poets in China during Tang Dynasty. It was his home more than a thousand years ago when he took refuge in Chengdu during the An-Shi Rebellion in 758. He stayed at the thatched cottage for four years during which he composed more than 240 poems that are considered to be precious national treasures. The buildings here are constructed with Qing Dynasty and the gardens is in the unique compound style of traditional Chinese gardening. Tourists come here will have a chance to learn about the life and the poetry of Dufu and enjoy the large contemplative park with streams and flowers.

Dujiangyan Irrigation Project
Dujiangyan Irrigation System is the oldest irrigation system constructed in Qin Dynasty around 2,200 years ago and the only surviving irrigation system without dam in the world. It has been making the greatest contribution to help Sichuan, especially Chengdu become prosperous in the history of China. On November 29, 2000, Dujiangyan was listed as the world cultural heritage by the UNESCO. For tourists, the Dujiangyan is not only a irrigation work, but also a popular garden with many picturesque and charming landscape around it.
Mount Qingcheng
Located about 65 kilometers away from Chengdu and 17 kilometers away from Dujiangyan, Mount Qingcheng is one of the most famous Taoist mountains in China and one of the places where Taoism was originated. The mountain can be divided into two parts - the the anterior part and the posterior part. The anterior part is home to many historical and cultural relics and sites, including Jianfu Palace, Tianshi Cave, Zushi Palace and Shangqing Palace and so on. The posterior part is endowed with a panorama of spectacular natural scenery where are densely covered by luxuriant trees.
Mount Emei
With an altitude of 3,099 meters above sea level and an area covering 154 square kilometers, Mount Emei is the highest among the four holy Buddhist mountains in China. After the spread of Buddhism during the Tang and Song Dynasty, there used to be more than 100 temples and shrines on the mountain, but only about 30 survived. The religious temples and spots include Baoguo Temple, Wannian Temple, Fohu Temple, Qingyin Pavilion and etc. The Buddhist Light is the most attractive and spectacular scene that attracting thousands of tourists. It can be seen when the drops of water in the clouds reflect the sunshine forming many bow rings which is rarely to catch. Except the Buddhist Light, the Buddhist Lamp, the splendid sunrise and the mysterious sea of clouds together are the showcases of Mount Emei.
Leshan Giant Buddha
Leshan Giant Buddha, the largest stone sculpture of Buddha in the world, lies to the east of the Leshan City at the condluence of Minjing, Dadu and Qingyi River. It is said that it took 90 years to complete this huge Buddha in Tang Dynasty. This giant Buddha stands as tall as 71 meters with a head of 15-meter-tall and 10-meter-wide. Don’ t be surprised that the upper surface of the feet can hold more than 100 people standing on it. The river flows below its feet which make tourists have a chance to take a panorama view of Leshan Giant Buddha on the boat. This largest Buddha statue in the world attracts millions tourists and Buddhist pilgrims from all over the world.
