Today, you will meet your tour guide at the Mao Zedong statue in the center of Tianfu Square.
Then, you will walk to the three new landmarks of the city, Sichuan Art Gallery, Sichuan Library and New Chengdu Museum. If the art museum is open for exhibition, you can go inside to appreciate the art works and the admission is free.
Move on to Kuanzhai Alley (also known as Wide and Narrow Alley), which is one of the top three historic preserve districts in Chengdu City. It is formed by three alleys called Kuan Alley (Wide Alley), Zhai Alley (Narrow Alley), and Jing Alley. Walking along the Kuan-zhai Lane, you can appreciate the ancient buildings of Qing Dynasty and experience the leisure lifestyle of Chengdu people. While you are walking, please don't forget to listen carefully to the introduction of your tour guide about the famous pedestrian in Chengdu.
Continue to the paths of Renmin Park and take a seat at Heming Tea House, where you can have a cup of tea and relax yourself in a bamboo chair. Your guide will explain Chinese tea traditions for you. An optional massage and ear cleaning can be purchased on-site from an independent practitioner. Then, taking a stroll around the park to watch local people, especially seniors, holding all kinds of activities, practicing Tai Chi, square dancing, singing Karaoke, playing musical instruments, playing chess, etc. Moreover, you can enjoy local snacks, like noodles, wonton, dumplings, steamed buns and pancakes from one of the vendors in the park.
Finally, you will make your way to the neighboring Children's Palace. Your walking tour will end here, and your tour guide can help you find a taxi or provide any advice on how to get to your next destination (at your own expense).
